When do wolves learn furious howl

When I tamed him, he had it and everything was fine. When I called him back, ferocious howl was gone, and it has not returned. So am I just needing to continue with him and he can learn it again or is it gone forever? If so, I might as well run my favorite pet, the cat. Any thoughts? Lasts until cancelled.
